Ancient Ouranoupoli <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The ancient sanctuary is located in the area of Nea Roda, on the road leading to Ierissos. There is a sign with the indication \"to Sanctuary of Ancient Ouranoupolis\". The Sanctuary has a lifespan from the Archaic to the Hellenistic period and its history is connected to 2 ancient cities, Sani, a colony of the Andrians and Ouranoupolis founded in 315 BC by Alexander, brother of the King of Macedonia Cassander.<\/span><\/p>

At the end of the 6th century BC Alexander and the inhabitants of Sani built the Sanctuary outside the city walls. \u038c\u03c4\u03b1\u03bd \u03bf \u0391\u03bb\u03ad\u03be\u03b1\u03c1\u03c7\u03bf\u03c2 \u03af\u03b4\u03c1\u03c5\u03c3\u03b5 \u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u039f\u03c5\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd\u03bf\u03cd\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03b7 \u03ad\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03be\u03b5 \u03c4\u03bf \u0399\u03b5\u03c1\u03cc \u03c3\u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u03bd\u03ad\u03b1 \u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03b7. During the excavations in the Sanctuary important findings were found such as in the center of the Sanctuary, a lithoscope with traces of burning from rituals, marble heads of Sun, marble head of a girl, a built desk along the Temple, Corinthian clay, tablets, etc.<\/p>
