It was built around 1050 to 1100 AD by the disciple of Athanasius Athonite "Efthymios Dochiaris". Today the icon of the Virgin Mary "Gorgoupikoos" is kept in the Monastery, about 50 monks live there and it celebrates on November 21 (Julian Calendar - feast of Archangel Michael and Gabriel).
