It was founded in 1795 by the well-known Russian monk Paisios Velitskowsky. Shortly afterwards, huge buildings and a magnificent central church were added and renovated in 1900. Among the many relics it has a magnificent breadbasket, blessing crosses, holy vestments, liturgical vessels, etc. Among the monks, the abbot Archimandrite Fr. Sergius is distinguished. From Karyes the Skete is one hour away, while from the monastery of Pantokrator, where it belongs, it is twenty-five minutes.
