An hour's drive up a hill about 250 meters from the sea, is the Romanian Skete of Prodromos. It was built in 1857 and is communal. It was founded by the monks Nektarios and Niphon and is dedicated to the name of John the Baptist. The church has newer frescoes. Today it has few monks.
